The Brush Off, Waterloo Region’s original and premier live art-making event, is back for its 11th edition.
Set to take place on Saturday, January 27th, 2024, at TheMuseum in Kitchener, the event, starting at 7:30 pm and concluding at midnight, offers a unique experience that combines art, entertainment, and fundraising.
During “The Brush Off,” talented artists are invited to participate in a friendly competition where they create art live, in front of an enthusiastic audience. Guests have the opportunity to enjoy a drink while witnessing the creative process unfold before their eyes.
One of the highlights of the event is the chance for attendees to vote for their favorite paintings. These votes play a pivotal role in determining the winners of the competition. Moreover, throughout the night, the audience can participate in a silent auction, where they have the opportunity to bid on and potentially take home their favorite artworks.

THEMUSEUM, the host of The Brush Off, is a registered not-for-profit organization with a charitable mission. Events like The Brush Off are essential for fundraising, helping THEMUSEUM remain open and continue to offer fresh and relevant exhibitions and programming to the community.
The partnership between THEMUSEUM and the participating artists is a significant aspect of the event’s success. Each artist generously donates their time and talent to create art for the competition. In return, the silent auction proceeds are divided, with 60% going to the artists and 40% benefiting THEMUSEUM’s initiatives.
While “The Brush Off” is open to all ages, it’s worth noting that it may not be suitable for children under the age of 12. Attendees looking to enjoy alcoholic beverages should have their IDs ready for age verification.
“The Brush Off” promises a night filled with creativity, excitement, and the opportunity to support the vibrant arts and cultural scene in the Waterloo Region. It’s an event that brings together art enthusiasts, fosters local talent, and contributes to the sustainability of a valuable cultural institution.
