Équité Association, and its Investigative Services team, which assists insurance companies in tackling fraud and crime have released the latest list of the most stolen cars in Canada.

With 4,117 thefts, Honda CR-V was Canada’s most stolen vehicle but the Lexus RX series had a higher theft percentage at 6.4%.
Ford F350 Series (model – 1997-2007), Ram 1500 Series (2009-2018), Lexus RX Series (2016-2021), and Honda CR-V (2016-2021) topped the list in Alberta, Atlantic Canada, Ontario, and Quebec respectively.
Équité says thieves exploit technology through relay attacks and connecting to the onboard diagnostic port, which enables them to reprogram key fobs.
According to Équité’s latest analysis all high-end vehicles including pick-up trucks, SUVs, and luxury cars, regardless of the manufacturer are targets.
As per the news release, Montreal is the principal exit port for stolen vehicles. Over 1,000 stolen vehicles, valued at more than $40 million were recovered from the Port of Montreal in 2021.
