STEAMED UP

 

The BC Forest Discovery Centre will STEAM UP their restored #1 SHAY Locomotive for the last days of summer. The Labour Day weekend will be the last 3 days of steam before the first Halloween Train leaves the station November 27th. The Green Hornet gas train will run until the end of the season on September 20th. Details

Malahat SkyWalk

Malahat SkyWalk is an elevated wooden walkway, 600 m high rising 20 m through an arbutus and Douglas fir forest. Visitors to the location ascend a circular ramp gently rising to the top of a 10-storey, architecturally inspiring spiral tower lookout into the natural landscape and vistas of the Cowichan Valley and Finlayson Arm.

Victoria Fringe Festival

This year’s festival takes over the city with Fringe venues from James Bay to Oak Bay and across downtown. We are also reflecting on 40 years of the Victoria Fringe, and will be sharing stories and pieces from the archives in our e-news and on social media, and are working on a pop-up display in the Intrepid Studio lobby that will feature highlights of the 40 years of Fringe history that will be open during the Festival. Come out, take a chance on wild and wonderful theatre, and embrace the weird at Fringe! Details

Tiny Worlds, Tall Trees: A Woodland Charm Pop-Up

Join The Woodland Charm this September 6 and 20 for a creative pop-up workshop inspired by the small wonders of the forest — moss, texture, natural materials, tiny details, and the kind of imagination that turns a simple vessel into a miniature world.

Guests are invited to drop in and create their own tiny landscape using a mix of living moss, preserved moss, polymer clay miniatures, natural elements, and decorative supplies. Each piece becomes a personal keepsake, shaped by your visit above the trees. Details

Victoria Classic Boat Festival

The Maritime Museum of British Columbia is proud to host the annual Victoria Classic Boat Festival, a celebration of maritime heritage in Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

Visitors can explore the docks, view up to 100 classic boats, cheer on their favourites during the Sail Race, and take part in a wide range of engaging activities throughout the weekend. Details

Ancient Egypt: Obsessed with Life is an immersive exhibition exploring ancient Egyptian rituals, beliefs and artistry. Visitors are invited to move through intimate, atmospheric spaces that recreate a journey through death, rebirth and the afterlife. See striking embellished coffins, powerful grave goods, jewelry, and everyday objects intended to accompany souls into eternity. Details

Four Friends Having Fun

Lois Kissinger, Karen Wilk, Shirley Sarens and Linda Butcher are the FOUR FRIENDS HAVING FUN. As well as displaying our art and hand crafted creations, we also “set up shop” for the week, bring our paints and canvases and demonstrate our process for our visitors. We work in a variety of mediums… acrylic, mixed media, watercolour and oil, and usually manage to create several finished paintings by the end of the week for all to. Details

Victoria Harbour Ferry Water Ballet

When the harbour ferries were originally brought to Victoria in 1990, the skippers were amazed at their maneuverability. Taking inspiration from the world-famous RCMP Musical Ride, they set out to test their abilities by creating a synchronized performance. With no passengers on board, the captains were able to push the their little boats to the limit, making them twirl around the water in and out of beautifully choreographed sequences. Details
