The new Black Loyalist Heritage Centre houses a new multimedia presentation of the Black Loyalist journey from Africa to the American colonies then to Nova Scotia and back to Africa. Explore the virtual copy of the Carlton’s Book of Negroes and search for your ancestor who may have experienced part of this incredible journey. Discover our impressive archaeological pit containing the material evidence of this compelling story. These archaeological artifacts were excavated here in Birchtown in the 1990’s. Details

The Mighty Engine

The Mighty Engine is a world-first, hands-on exhibit that invites families into a fun and interactive learning adventure. Featuring the Orgamites—a team of playful, educational characters representing the body’s mighty organs—this exhibit shows what makes the human body the most advanced engine in the world.

Designed for children ages 5–11, the exhibit presents the body’s organs as a team of “mighty heroes” working together. By connecting with kids on an emotional level, The Mighty Engine helps families see the body as powerful, fascinating, and worthy of care. Details
