5 Things to Do in Niagara Falls with Toddlers

1

See, Hear, Taste, Smell, and Touch the Falls – A Sensory Experience

Show them the magnificent Falls. Count and name the colours of the rainbow that is formed over the Horseshoe Falls. As you walk along the promenade, point to the many birds that swoops down to the river. At night, enjoy the illuminated falls and the fireworks (select days).

The rainbow paints the sky,
With colors that are true.
Red, orange, yellow, green,
Blue and purple, too.

Climb on to big boat, wear a poncho and go on a voyage to the falls with Hornblower Niagara Cruises. Enjoy the squeal of delight of your toddler as she/he gets a free Falls shower.

The roar and the thunder are so loud I hold my ears.
But the beauty, the mystery, they are such a sight to see.
It’s might, it’s powerful, the thunder does roar.
I wonder what that little boat down there has in store?
Splashing and spraying way high up in the air,
Roaring and rumbling as the water flows over there.
The foam and the bubbles, the mist in the sky.
Oh, what a scary and wild and very wet ride.
There’s the little boat, it made it right under
he falls, the water and all of the thunder.
The people are all laughing and happy you see
For they made it under the falls and soon will join me. ©Jean E. Gorney

Walk with your toddler through the century old tunnel, come up behind the Horseshoe Falls -hear the loud thundering sound the falls make, get on to the platform and feel and taste the Falls mist on your face.

If all the raindrops were lemon drops and gumdrops?
Oh what a rain that would be.
Standing outside with my mouth open wide.
Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh.

Visit Butterfly Conservatory and see over 2000 colourful tropical butterflies floating freely among lush, exotic blossoms and greenery. The little kids and the big kids will be ecstatic when the delicate butterflies land on them.

Butterfly, Butterfly, flutter around.
Butterfly, Butterfly, touch the ground.
Butterfly, Butterfly, fly so free.
Butterfly, land on me!
Butterfly, Butterfly, reach the sky,
Butterfly, Butterfly, say good-bye!

3

Explore the wonders of the ocean and its amazing aquatic life including killer whales, beluga whales, and dolphins at MarineLand. Touch and feed the friendly white whales, enjoy animal shows including high-flying dolphins perform amazing flips, the hilarious antics of their comical sea lion friends and more!

Baby beluga, baby Beluga, is the water warm?
Is your mama home with you, so happy.
Way down yonder where the dolphins play,
Where they dive and splash all day,
The waves roll in and the waves roll out,
See the water squirting out of your spout.
Baby beluga, baby Beluga, sing your little song,
Sing for all your friends, we like to hear you.

Enjoy chirping of the exotic birds, feed brilliantly coloured lorikeets at the Bird Kingdom.

Let your wee-ones feed the ducks, while you relax and have a picnic at Dufferin Islands Park.

Once I saw a little bird
Come hop, hop, hop,
I cried, “Little bird,
Will you stop, stop, stop?”
I was going to the window
To say, “How do you do?”
But he shook his little tail
And away he flew.

5

Enjoy a play time with your bundle of joy at Tiny Tots Splash Park, a play area filled with streams and soakers at Fallsview Indoor Waterpark, while the big kids have a go at biggie slides. (Free for kids under 2)

I’m a little penguin – black and white splishsplash

Short and fluffy – what a sight

I can’t fly – but I love to swim
