Live Concerts Are Back!
Summer Concert Series at the Grey Eagle Drive In
June 10, 2021. Calgary, Alberta: Grey Eagle Drive In is thrilled to announce their new concert set up and plans for this summer. Starting June 16, they will be begin presenting LIVE concert events with guests being allowed to sit outside of their cars. “The original plan for the Grey Eagle Drive In was always to bring back live concert events and we are super excited to be able announce our live concert line up. Our venue set up has an open parking space in between each car, so this space becomes our guests spots to set up their own lounge party. Then starting August 13 guests will be able to come into an open site and set up their own lawn chair in a general admission format, no vehicles” stated Courtney Smith, Venue Manager, Grey Eagle Drive In.
The Grey Eagle Drive In has been in operation since May 7 and will be running concerts, live events, movies, dance recitals, graduations, and private corporate events until September 7th. Upcoming live concerts include:
June 16 – Deuling Pianos. Drive In Show
June 18 - Hotel California- The Original Tribute to the Eagles Drive In Show
June 20 – Snotty Nose Rez Kids Drive In Show
June 25 - Bad Moon Riders: A Salute to the Music of CCR Drive In Show
July 9 - Men Without Hats Drive In Show
July 17 – Wannabe: A Spice Girls Tribute Drive In Show
July 24 – BCDC: High Voltage Rock ‘N Roll (ACDC Tribute) Drive In Show
August 13 – Platinum Blonde General Admission Standing Show
August 20 – Streetheart and Headpins General Admission Standing Show
“Starting June 16, we are presenting a unique format for our guests. Guests can take in the shows under the sun and stars in their own lawn chair beside their vehicles, but if it rains, the show goes on under our covered stage and our guests can retreat to their cars until the rain passes,” stated Courtney Smith. This new set up will continue to follow COVID protocols put forward by AHS and the Tsuut’ina Nation, which means guests need to wear face masks and are not permitted to wonder the site, unless using the washroom.
Come August 13; The Grey Eagle Drive In will be hosting outdoor general admission style events, no vehicles! “Lives shows are back at the Grey Eagle and we could not be happier. Guests will be able to come to the site, set up their own festival space and take in these amazing shows. The first being Platinum Blonde on August 13, followed by a double header with Streetheart and the Headpins on August 20,” noted Sheldon Lachambre, Director of Entertainment at The Grey Eagle Resort & Casino.
*This concert series is dependent on hitting Alberta’s Stage 3 reopening plans
Located on the beautiful Tsuut’ina Nation at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino, the Grey Eagle Drive In site features 206 car capacity venue for Drive IN concerts and a 1,000-person capacity for festival events. The Grey Eagle Drive In features a state-of-the-art stage for bands to perform live and Industry leading sound, lighting, and video.
According to the Alberta Live Events Coalition more than $350 million dollars has been lost in Alberta within the live event industry due to COVID. https://albertaliveeventscoalition.ca “It is great to be able to get back to producing live events. It has been a challenging time for our industry, with many companies shutting down and thousands of layoffs. Getting bands back on stage is a positive step in helping our industry begin to recover,” stated David Howard, President of The Event Group.
