Jeremy Dutcher in Concert

Singer-songwriter, composer, and musicologist Jeremy Dutcher is the first artist in history to win the Polaris Music Prize twice. The classically trained tenor is a member of the Tobique First Nation in New Brunswick and his debut album, Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa, (2018) helped to bring the endangered language of the Wolastoqiyik people to new generations.

The misty and melancholy atmosphere of Edinburgh’s Holyrood Palace provided the initial inspiration for Mendelssohn’s “Scottish” Symphony. 1858: Black Routes, Black Roots

Come join us through the journey of early Black immigration to BC. This story begins in San Francisco with the formation of the “Pioneer Committee”. It takes us through their journey via the steamship Commodore to arrive here, in 1858, as the first group of Black immigrants to Vancouver Island.

The Butchart Gardens

One of Victoria’s oldest and most beloved locations, the Butchart Gardens has over 55 acres of blossoming goodness to explore and enjoy. Kids enjoy this lovely spot because of the fountains, sculptures, a Japanese garden, totem poles, and the front desk offers fun scavenger hunts from kids to keep them entertained.

Step inside the Spring Prelude and stroll along the flagstone pathways while breathing in the subtle fragrance of cherry blossoms, witch hazel, and blooming shrubs that join beds of daffodils and tulips alongside tropical plants and orchids providing a backdrop to fountains and a water feature where goldfish gracefully and serenely swim. Spring welcomes over 300,000 bulbs, blooming in brilliant colours. As they grow in, we begin “tickling” the soil – breaking up compact soil allows air, water, and nutrients to penetrate, while we prune the Roses and Hydrangeas. Meanwhile, the greenhouses become a beehive of activity with more than 16 staff working tirelessly to produce thousands of plans for our summer gardens. Details
