Things to Do during Winter/Christmas Holidays in Moncton

You don’t need to hibernate this holiday season. Celebrate this holiday season out in Moncton and enjoy the winter wonderland. If you prefer to stay inside, there is still lots of family fun to be had this during the Christmas holidays in Moncton.

I. Sledding Spots to Check Out

Centennial Park

Centennial Park is a popular spot for sledding since there are a few hills to pick from. You just have to wait for a good snow, then you can head out and find a steep hill to start sledding on. If you don’t like to sled, then you can hit the ice at the outdoor skating rink.

Rotary St-Anselme Park

This park is very popular in the summertime, but the fun does not stop when the snow comes. Allow with sledding, there is also skiing and snowshoeing trails for all skill levels. The snowshoeing trail connects to the Irishtown Nature Park. There is also an outdoor skating rink for you to enjoy this winter.

Winter Wonderland Park

This winter wonderland is not just for walking through anymore. If you are looking for a great time outdoors, you should definitely check out this park. The sliding hill is famous because it has a snowboard component. There is also an outdoor rink and a pathway that connects to the Dobson Trail.

II. Skating

Mapleton Park Rink

The Mapleton Park rink is located behind the Rotary Pavillion, which is the log structure used for meetings and gatherings. There are also paths in the park that you can take the family snowshoeing on.

Arthur-J.-Leblanc Centre

If you are looking to go skating inside this holiday break, the Arthur-J.-Leblanc Centre offers free public skates all week long. The rink is closed on Christmas, Boxing Day, December 27, 2018, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.

III. Skiing and Trails

Poley Mountain

Hit the slopes at Poley Mountain, a family-friendly mountain that is around 10km from Sussex and is located between Moncton (an hour drive), Fredericton, and Saint John. Just make sure to check their website to see when the slopes are open.

Crabbe Mountain

A drive of two and a half hours gets you to Crabbe Mountain — famous for having the largest and highest vertical drop in the Maritimes. Skiers and snowboarders love Crabbe Mountain and its 32 alpine trails and glades. There is also over 30 km of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails for you to explore at your leisure.

Wild Lights – Year of the Penguin at Magnetic Hill Zoo

The Magnetic Hill Zoo will be covered with hundreds of thousands of holiday lights during the Wild Lights display.This year’s theme will place a spotlight on penguins and the new family of penguins at the zoo. The whole family will love the new penguin-themed lights and can learn about these semi-aquatic birds this holiday season! December 1 to January 5 (closed December 24 & 25) | 5 to 8:30 pm. (8 pm on December 31st)

Holiday Celebration at Riverview Skate and Youth Centre

Celebrate the holidays at Riverview Skate and Youth Centre. The Holiday Celebration is free to attend and there will be Hot Chocolate and Candy Canes. On December 23, 2018

Frozen Holiday Skate at Hussars Sports Centre

Kids will love skating with Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and Kristoff at the Frozen Holiday Skate at the Hussars SportsCentre in Sussex. Make sure to bring your phone or camera to take photos of your kids with the entire Frozen cast. On December 23, 2018

V. Indoor Fun

Hop!Skip!Jump!

Younger kids will love to climb, run, and play inside at Hop!Skip!Jump!. Along with being the largest climb and play structure in Moncton, there is also a laser maze challenge and an arcade on-site. For adults, the café is a great place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and a scrumptious snack.

Crystal Mountain Party Palace

Crystal Mountain Party Palace is the place where many parents take their kids to have fun indoors during the Christmas holidays. You can challenge your family at the huge laser tag arena, play virtual golf or test your skills on over 80 arcade games.

Get Air Trampoline Park

Work out the extra energy from all the sugary treats at the Get Air Trampoline Park this Holiday season. This trampoline park is fun for all ages because there are many different areas designed for people with different skill levels.
