The provincial government announced on April 23rd that all Ontarians who are pregnant can register for COVID-19 vaccination.

The province says the change is in light of new information showing women who are pregnant are at high risk of severe illness.

The health minister’s office says pregnant women are now considered among those with highest need for shots.

Christine Elliot via Twitter said that pregnant individuals living in a public health unit using the provincial booking system can call the provincial call centre at 1-888-999-6488 to book their appointment while those who are in a public health unit not using the provincial booking system should contact their local public health unit.”

A doctor’s note is not necessary, and women can expect to wait about 16 weeks for a second dose.

The latest research and one of the largest reports on COVID-19 vaccination in pregnancy have bolstered evidence that it is safe.
