Toronto drivers with electric vehicles are getting a short break on charging costs this week.
The Toronto Parking Authority is offering free EV charging at all Green P stations across the city as part of Earth Week. The offer runs from 12:00 am on April 20 through 11:59 pm on April 24, covering more than 500 charging stations in what the agency describes as the country’s largest municipally operated network.
For regular EV users, it is a chance to cut down on routine costs. For others, it may be an easy entry point to try public charging without committing to a fee. The stations are already positioned in everyday locations, near homes, workplaces, and common parking areas, which the city says makes access simpler than many drivers expect.
The free period applies to both Level 2 and Level 3 chargers, meaning drivers can choose between standard and faster charging options depending on their needs. There is no cap on how many times a vehicle can be charged during the promotion.
Access to the chargers remains the same as usual, with drivers able to connect through common platforms or payment methods.
What drivers will find this week:
- Free charging at all Green P stations: Covers both Level 2 and Level 3 chargers across more than 500 locations.
- Five-day window to use the service: Available from 12:00 am EST April 20 to 11:59 pm EST April 24.
- Multiple ways to start a session: Drivers can use the Flo app, ChargePoint app, a credit card, or an RFID card.
- Parking rules still apply: Standard parking fees remain in place where required.
