Get ready to put a spring in your step because Lakeland Flowers is showing off their magnificent tulip display during the Abbotsford Tulip Festival.

With over 28 acres of tulips, the festival boasts an array of more than 100 varieties of tulips in all shapes and colours, including unique, eye-catching specialty varieties. Look out for the Double Tulips with multiple layers of petals, Fringe Tulips with naturally frayed edges, and the rare Parrot variety of tulip, La Courtine Parrot, with flamboyant, yellow, wavey petals with highlights of red and green.

Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes to roam around and snap some Instagram-worthy photos. Tickets range from $8 to $25, and if you buy in advance, you’ll get a discount!

So grab your loved ones, even your pets, and enjoy a peaceful stroll amid the sea of tulips while satisfying your craving for nature’s beauty. And don’t forget to check out the food trucks while you’re at it, which will be onsite on Saturdays and Sundays.

Depending on the weather, you can access the festival with a stroller or a wheelchair. It is advisable to check their website for any updates on the weather and the ground conditions to see if you’ll be okay. Oh, and be sure to wear comfortable boots!

The Abbotsford Tulip Festival is just one part of the Abbotsford Summer Flower Festival at Lakeland Flowers.

Boasting Canada’s largest summer floral display, as per Lakeland Flowers, the festival begins with a vibrant array of tulips, showcasing early to late-blooming varieties to ensure continuous beauty throughout the season. It transitions through a succession of blooms, including peonies from May to June, lavender from June to August, and sunflowers from June to September, among others, across 43 acres.

Nick Warmerdam is the force behind the Lakeland Flowers. The Warmerdam family has a long history of flower farming, with Peter Warmerdam starting the tradition in Canada after immigrating from the Netherlands. Lakeland Flowers, now run by Nick Warmerdam, has adapted to changing markets and continues to supply fresh cut flowers and bulbs. The 2021 Sumas flooding forced Lakeland Flowers to scale back operations and shift towards agritourism, with fields now open to the public for floral offerings.
