The Danish Canadian Museum
The Danish Canadian National Museum in Dickson will transform into a Viking stronghold this summer when Viking Days returns on August 14 to 16, 2026.
Known as the largest annual gathering of Viking re-enactors in North America, the event offers a rare chance to step inside a recreated Viking village, complete with demonstrations of traditional crafts, trades, and battle tactics.
What to expect at Viking Days
- Stew and Brew: The festivities begin Friday evening with Stuvet Oksekød, biscuits and beer, alongside chicken pot pie stew, vegan legume stew and creamy pork stew. Pies and gluten-free cobblers follow for dessert. The evening also includes stories, music and the 4th Annual Steinholding competition. Tickets range from free for children five and under to $40.
- Viking Village: Visitors can wander through an immersive village where Viking-era crafts, trades and battle re-enactments bring history closer to the crowd. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 60+, $6 for children 12 and under, while children five and under enter free.
- Viking Feast: On August 15 from 6 to 9 p.m., guests can dine alongside Viking re-enactors. The $100 ticket includes Saturday grounds admission, storytelling, music, battle viewing and a multi-course meal featuring roast beef, chicken thighs, vegan turducken, vegetables and dessert.
- Pancake Breakfast: Sunday brings a more relaxed start with a pancake breakfast included in Viking Days admission.
For those looking to extend their trip, the area near Spruce View offers additional attractions. Dickson Dam Beach provides a sunny spot for swimming and picnics, while Gleniffer Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area is popular for boating, fishing, and camping. These lakeside escapes make for a perfect pairing with a weekend of Viking adventures.
