In 2021, Ontario Parks announced a program through which you can visit Ontario parks for free by borrowing day-use permits from participating Ontario libraries.
The next year, Ontario Parks expanded the program to many more libraries across Ontario, including the Toronto Public Library.
Depending on the library, library members can borrow a day-use vehicle permit, which will include free entry or discount coupons for a future regular day-use vehicle permit to Ontario Parks.
The number of free passes and rules and regulations for borrowing free Ontario parks permit varies at each participating library.
These passes grant free access to more than 100 provincial parks.
Ontario parks have capacity limits, which lead to the closure of parks during busy weekends. You can book your visit in advance to more than 75 of Ontario’s most popular parks for up to five days.
