As summer 2024 approaches, Wasaga Beach is setting the stage for an unparalleled celebration of music and community. The town is preparing to host a series of beachfront music festivals that promise to captivate both residents and tourists alike, transforming the sandy shores into a vibrant hub of entertainment.
Imagine enjoying live music under the stars on the longest freshwater beach in the world—Wasaga Beach offers this unique experience, making it a standout destination among Ontario’s festival locales. This year’s festivities are even more special as they coincide with the town’s 50th anniversary, a milestone that will be marked with free concerts featuring a blend of iconic Canadian artists and emerging talents.
The festivities kick off on May 18 and will span across several months, featuring iconic Canadian musicians and a wealth of family-friendly activities:
- Summer Launch (May 18): The season begins during the Victoria Day long weekend with the Summer Launch, which includes a retro roller skate event at 140 Main Street and concludes with a vibrant fireworks display on the beach.
- Trail Tunes (June 1): Enjoy a day of music and outdoor activities, with live performances at various trailheads. Performers at Oakview Park, located at 1724 Mosley Street, include Too Nice, Freez Careeb, Love Sound Steel Pan Band, and evening headliner Reggaddiction.
- Summer Sets (Fridays and Saturdays beginning June 14): Throughout the summer, visitors can enjoy performances every Friday and Saturday starting June 14, with a lineup that includes Kitty & The Boyz, Peasant Kings, and many more.
- Canada Day Celebration (July 1): The Strumbellas, two-time JUNO Award winners, will headline the Canada Day festivities, promising a day of exceptional musical talent and patriotic spirit.
- Music in the Park (Tuesday, July 2 to August 27, 7 pm): Experience a magical evening of music at the Oakview Wood Gazebo, located next to the Wasaga Beach RecPlex.
- 50 Years of Sunshine Music Festival (July 27): The Carpet Frogs, veterans of Canadian rock, return to Wasaga Beach to headline this special event celebrating the town’s 50th anniversary.
- Sand & Soca (August 10): The festivities continues with Sand & Soca, a day dedicated to soul calypso music, which will feature lively performances in a unique beach setting.
- Memories of Summer Music Festival (September 1): Canadian rock legend Tom Cochrane will close the summer festivities with a headline performance that is sure to be a highlight of the season.
