2. The Bison Festival
Bison were nearly lost from North America! But by the early 20th century, bison purchased from Montana and brought to Elk Island National Park began to slowly re-build their numbers. Today nearly every plains bison you see in southern Canada, whether in conservation or domestic herds, had an ancestor in Elk Island National Park. We think that’s something to celebrate! Join us for a rip-snorting good time at Elk Island National Park’s first Bison Festival, celebrating all things bison! –

4. Ukrainian Day
This year’s theme, Shades of Shevchenko, commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko, Ukraine’s national bard and talented artist. A celebration of Alberta’s vibrant Ukrainian community past and present, Ukrainian Day is co-hosted by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress-Alberta Provincial Council.

6. Edmonton Commemoration
Regimental Centennial Parade.- Part of the 100 year Commemoration of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. A parade will be conducted with guards from all Patricia battalions. The parade will be preceded by a military display open to the public and followed by a public reception.
The Edmonton Garrison will be open to the public as the units display their equipment and capabilities. Vehicle rides, the Skyhawks skydiving team, the latest military equipment, and entertainment for children will be featured.

1. Hope Classic
The Hope Classic Wheel/Walk/Run is an annual event in support of individuals and families affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus. It is a family friendly and non-competitive event where persons of all abilities are encouraged to participate. Participants can choose to run, walk, or wheel their way through a 5km or 8km paved course.

2. Edmonton’s Ride-Walk-Run for Celiacs
The Ride Walk Run for Celiac is one of our chapter’s largest fundraisers and we encourage all participants to collect pledges from family members, friends and co-workers.It is a fun race geared to people of all ages! Beginning at the South Amphitheater of the Alberta Legislature Grounds, participants can chose to cycle, walk or run a 5 km or 10 km route along the scenic river valley. Post-race activities will include face painting, gluten free sampling, games and more! Bring along the whole family for a healthy celebration of gluten free living!

Animethon is a Japanese Animation (“anime”) themed festival held annually in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We have expanded our focus beyond screening anime and now also include voice actor guests from North America, musical acts from North America and Japan, improvisation groups, as well as various related activities such as gaming, costume contests, and more. Animethon, as of 2004, is operated by the Alberta Society for Asian Popular Arts (ASAPA).
