WestJet has announced a significant expansion of its European network for the summer of 2024, leveraging its growing fleet of 737 MAX aircraft.

This expansion includes reintroducing services connecting Eastern Canada with Europe and inaugurating new flights from Calgary to Reykjavik, Iceland.
The airline aims to bolster its presence in Western Canada by enhancing its 787 Dreamliner hub, increasing international route frequencies, and introducing daily flights to Japan from Calgary.
New Service between Calgary & Reykjavik:
WestJet will become the only airline offering direct flights from Calgary to Iceland, starting May 15, with four weekly services.

Per the news release, the airline’s service to Reykjavik will be enhanced through an interline agreement with Icelandair, allowing passengers to travel across both airlines’ networks with a single boarding pass and checked baggage.

In Eastern Canada, WestJet is re-establishing links to key European cities.
Services from Toronto to Dublin and Edinburgh, Halifax to Dublin, Edinburgh, and London, and St. John’s to London are set to resume, offering increased business and tourism opportunities.

Increased frequency of Flights between Calgary and Tokyo and six transatlantic destinations:
WestJet is increasing its intercontinental frequencies from Calgary, strengthening its role as a convenient gateway for tourism in Western Canada.
The increased frequency includes daily flights to Tokyo’s Narita International Airport in response to high demand, and increased services to Rome, Barcelona, Edinburgh, and unchanged frequencies to Paris and London (Heathrow).
