What to Know About Calgary’s 2024 New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show

Calgary will ring in 2024 with fireworks launched from Prince’s Island Park, the city announced today.

The fireworks will be synchronized to a special musical accompaniment on CJSW 90.9 FM featuring Canadian artists.

 

Spectators can view the fireworks from various vantage points around Prince’s Island Park or enjoy the show via a livestream.

The event will commence at 11:55 p.m. with an Indigenous Elder’s blessing, followed by Mayor Jyoti Gondek leading the countdown to midnight.

Alongside the fireworks, the Olympic Plaza skating rink will extend its hours until midnight, providing additional outdoor winter activities such as skating and snowshoeing.

For those looking to explore Calgary’s local offerings, numerous shops and restaurants will be open, and residents are encouraged to support these community businesses.

To facilitate safe travel, Calgary Transit has extended its service for New Year’s Eve. The CTrain will operate until 4 a.m. on January 1, 2024, and select bus routes will run until 3 a.m. Detailed information on fares, schedules, and service changes is available at calgarytransit.com.

For the safety of the public during the fireworks display, there will be road closures on Crescent Road N.W. from 4th Street N.W. to 1st Street N.W., effective from 10 p.m. on December 31, 2023, until 1 a.m. on January 1, 2024.
