Fan Park does not close with the end of the Oilers hockey season. The Summer SolstICE Event Series is scheduled to keep the party going in the ICE District and Fan Park from now until the Oilers are back at it in the pre-season.
The Summer SolstICE Event Series has Fan Park fully booked for the entire summer. And these weekly events is something for everyone and all ages. They kicked off the summer with the recent Sustainaval Festival and Carnival (which we hope will come back in 2024!).
These events continue all summer. Here are some of the upcoming events at the ICE District.
Bomfest
Dance the night away to the world’s top electronic acts, including Kaskade, Black Tiger Sex Machine, Timmy Trumpet, Kayzo, Tchami, Andrew Rayel, Audien, Ghastly, Kill Script, Nostalgix, and many more! You won’t want to miss this unforgettable weekend filled with epic beats, fantastic vibes, and a whole lot of fun.

What’s Up Wednesdays
This weekly lunchtime series is perfect for anyone working downtown, or for those who know someone working downtown! Head to the ICE District to find various food trucks, extra information on programming, and live music.

FREE Family Activities for Every Day This Summer in Edmonton
Edmonton International Jazz Festival
The ICE District has already hosted two music festivals to kick off the summer fun. And next up is Edmonton’s Jazzfest! Tickets are on sale now for the 2023 Edmonton International Jazz Festival, but the ICE District Plaza shows are all free to attend. So, you can take your pick from the ticketed shows at the Winspear, Triffo Theatre, Starlite Room, Chateau Lacombe, or the Yardbird Suite, before seeing these free acts.

Canada Day Celebrations
These Canada Day events in Fan Park and at the ICE District are free and for all ages. You can take part in some drop-in sports, enjoy the local food and drink vendors on site, or explore the photo booths. Several kids’ games and activities will also be on site, and the day is set to include a variety of live performances. The live music starts at 5pm.

Sporting events
The Summer SolstICE is about more than concerts and live music! There are a variety of sporting events coming to Fan Park to suit various interests: boxing and fighting, team sports, and sports for a good cause!
- The Volleyball World BPT will take place in Fan Park July 20-23. Tickets are on sale now ($97-$265 per person) for the tournament, which promises live music and a festival atmosphere alongside the beach volleyball spectating.
- The following weekend, fans can enjoy live basketball games with the FIBA 3×3 BASKETBALL World Tour from July 28-30 in Fan Park. Tickets are not yet on sale.
- In early August, fans can catch live fights with the Unified MMA event, set to be one of the biggest outdoor MMA events in Canada (August 12). Tickets are not yet on sale.
- And later in August, Fan Park will turn into a street hockey arena for the Pride Cup Ball Hockey Championship (August 27), which is free to attend.
Immersive Cinema Experience
Looking for a free date night idea this summer? Keep the dates below in mind! The ICE District is hosting free outdoor movie nights for those three evenings. And for each film, they’ll add some themed décor, and themed food/drink options to help make it an immersive cinema experience! All movies will be displayed with closed captioning.

What’s on at Rogers Place this Summer
There will be a lot going on with the indoor part of the Ice District this summer as well. As a premiere performance venue in Edmonton, Rogers Place offers shows from some major names in music.
- Nickelback, Blink 182, VOLBEAT, Avenged Sevenfold with Alexisonfire, Rod Stewart, The Chicks, and 50 Cent are all scheduled for shows this summer!
- Plus, Rogers will play host to two different indoor sporting events: All Elite Wresting, and the Monster Jam (monster trucks).
