We are known for winter fun in Alberta: skiing and snowboarding, skating, hockey, tobogganing, and multiple places across the province offer snow tubing! This unique and thrilling experience is just like sledding, but a little faster (often requiring a helmet) and of course, on a tube. Here are some places you can go snow tubing in Alberta from north to south, and east to west.
1. Snow Tubing in Northern Alberta
Nighthawk Adventure Park Snow Tube Zone
The Aquatera Snow Tube Zone (in Nighthawk, just outside of Grande Prairie) offers thrilling runs for snow tubing, and new this year, Glow Tubing- an evening experience with lasers, glowsticks, and music. Helmets are required for all tubers and helmet rentals are available. Purchase tickets online to secure a spot at Nighthawk Adventure Park.

Little Smoky Tube Park (near High Prairie)
Little Smoky is home to 5 long lanes that will plunge you down the hill on your tube. End your ride in a soft, snowy bank, and do it all over again (the cost of tubing is for the day!). Little Smoky is between Grande Prairie and High Prairie, making it a convenient day trip from both towns.

Eastlink Park (Whitecourt)
The Eastlink Park Tubing is a great family day of fun (passes include tubing for all tubing hours), and can be quickly accessed from Whitecourt, Swan Hills, and Valleyview. The ski hill is smaller, so tubers, skiers, and snowboarders can follow the same terrain. Buy tickets online to secure a spot at Eastlink Park.

Kinosoo Ridge Tube Park
Kinosoo is on the south east shore of Cold Lake, and a short drive from town. The tube park offers scenic views of the Lake while sliding, gliding, and taking in the winter adventure. Helmets are recommended, and children 2 and under are not permitted. Purchase tickets online to book your spot at Kinosoo’s Tube Park.

2. Snow Tubing in the Edmonton area
Edmonton Ski Club Tube Park
Edmonton Ski Club Tube Park
This tube park is in the heart of Edmonton on the south banks of the North Saskatchewan River, and offers pretty panoramic views of the YEG skyline. Strap on a helmet (mandatory) and some warm boots, and experience city adventure as never before. Purchase tickets online to book your tubing adventure.

Sunridge Ski Area
The hills of the North Saskatchewan provide tons of winter fun for Edmontonians, and you can find more tubing runs at the Sunridge Ski Area, still on the south banks but further east. Take in the view of the city at the top before plunging down one of three hill runs. Children must be 7 years old and 4 ft. tall to ride the tubes. 3. Snow Tubing in Central Alberta

Canyon Ski Resort Tube Park (Red Deer)
Tube your way through four different lanes of snowy terrain from the top of Canyon Ski Resort. Atop the hill you’ll find washrooms and the ticket booth. The Resort recommends driving to the top of the hill to best access the tubing. Rider must be 42” tall, and helmets are required (available for rent or you can bring your own).

Tawatinaw Valley Tubing
The rates alone are hard to beat, but so is the fun you’ll have tubing down the hills of Tawatinaw Valley. Children 2-4 years can ride with an adult and must be 42” to ride alone. Purchase tickets online to book your time at Tawatinaw Tube Park.

This smaller ski hill is between the town of Drayton Valley and the North Saskatchewan River, and is a cost-effective and fun way to spend your afternoon this winter.

4. Snow Tubing in the Canadian Rockies (Alberta)
Lake Louise Ski Resort
Sunny Tube Park (Lake Louise Ski Resort)
Mountain adventure awaits at “Canada’s Natural Playground,” or the Lake Louise Ski Resort, nestled in the Alberta Rockies. The snow-covered hills of the Resort make for picturesque riding and sliding through the crisp mountain air. Children under 12 are required to wear a helmet.

Mt. Norquay (Banff)
Welcome to the longest tube lanes in Alberta, located just outside the Banff townsite! Pick from a morning or afternoon session and enjoy the thrill-ride of mountain-side tubing with your entire family (4 years and up, and 42” or taller). Mt. Norquay tubing tickets can be purchased online in advance. Helmets not required.

Nakiska Wanidu Tube Park
Kananaskis is on the outskirts of the Rocky Mountains, offering plenty of fun on its own in terms of hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, and snow tubing. The Nakiska Ski Area normally offers a snow tube experience at Wanidu Tube Park, but this part of the ski area is closed for the 2021 season. Check them out for a close ski/snowboard destination from Calgary and Edmonton.

5. Snow Tubing in Calgary & Southern Alberta

WinSport Tube Park
Take a ride down one of COP’s 8 tube lanes, some of the fastest in Canada. The scenic Canada Olympic Park is in Calgary’s west end, providing mountain views on sunny days, and plenty of snow for the tube runs. Riders are encouraged to bring their own helmets as there are limited quantities available for rent, and tickets for the experience must be purchased in advance on their website.

While a snow tube park may be hard to come across in Southern Alberta, winter fun is still easily attainable. At Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, try the equally-as-thrilling experience of backyard luge, ice skating, cross-country skiing, and of course skiing and snowboarding.
