Laiterie de Coaticook Limitée is recalling certain Coaticook white cheddar cheeses sold in Quebec because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The affected products include Coaticook Mild Cheddar Curds and Mild Cheddar. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued the food recall warning on August 3, 2026.
Consumers are being asked to check whether they have the recalled cheese at home. The products should not be eaten, served, used, sold or distributed. They should instead be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

One reason officials treat Listeria seriously is that contamination is not always obvious.
“Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,” the recall notice says.
Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immune systems are at greater risk.
For pregnant women, the infection may initially feel like a mild case of the flu, but it can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or stillbirth. Severe illness can be fatal.
Anyone who believes they became sick after eating a recalled product should contact a healthcare provider.
The company initiated the recall. No illnesses linked to the affected cheeses have been reported.
The CFIA is investigating the situation and checking that the products are being removed from stores. The investigation could also lead to additional recalls.
