If you shop at Whole Foods Market in Ontario, you may want to check your fridge. A recall has been issued for 22 guacamole, pico de gallo, salsa, and prepared food products because of possible Salmonella contamination.
The affected items were distributed in Ontario and online. They include several Whole Foods Market guacamoles, such as mild, medium, spicy, mango, pomegranate and roasted corn varieties, along with pico de gallo, various salsas, chicken quesadillas and two turkey burger products.
Some packaged salsa and pico de gallo products are also included. Salsa Fresca Medium, Salsa Verde Mild and Salsa Roja Medium come in 340-gram containers, while Pico de Gallo Mild, Pico de Gallo Spicy and Pineapple Mango Salsa Mild are sold in 284-gram packages.
Best-before dates vary. The packaged salsa and pico de gallo products carry dates from August 7 to August 16, 2026. Whole Foods Market products listed in the recall have best-before dates ranging from August 7 to August 14, 2026.
The recall is connected to an August 2026 Salmonella outbreak investigation involving jalapeño.
If you have one of the recalled products, the guidance is clear, “Do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products.” You should throw the item away or return it to where you bought it.
Salmonella contamination may not change how food looks or smells. Symptoms can include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Young children, pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immune systems face a greater risk of serious infection.
