Canadians have very limited options when it comes to low-cost airlines and Flair Airlines is one of them.

The Edmonton-based company was embroiled in a “whether Flair Airlines is Canadian” controversy when Canadian Transportation Agency in its preliminary determination found that Flair is not ‘’Canadian’’ as domestic airlines in Canada must have a majority of Canadian shareholders.

The reason for the preliminary decision was because 777 Partners had “unique shareholder rights” in the airline and Flair depended on 777 for its financing and leasing of aircraft.

Flair Airlines was given 60 calendar days to respond. The Canadian Transportation Agency today decided that the airline is Canadian after Flair restructured its board, solidifying Canadian ownership, and demonstrated that the airline is not dependent on 777 Partners for its operations.

Since launching in 2017, Flair operates over 120 flights per week across Canada. Flair Airlines serves over 30 cities across Canada, Mexico and the U.S including:
