Vancouver foodies have a lot to celebrate in August, between restaurant openings and culinary festivals.

Five Sails Alice in Wonderland Tea
Foodie or not, anyone can appreciate the new eateries that recently popped up around the city and the celebrations about to hit Vancouver. Among the restaurant openings are spots like cafes, bars, take-out-only restaurants, and a few new dining experiences.
And come August, the food celebrations take over all of metro Vancouver.

404 Coffee
Stop by this new grab-and-go coffee shop/window on West Broadway for cold and refreshing summer drinks. 404 Coffee are a take-out only coffee shop with a fun assortment of hot and cold drinks, and a tempting dessert menu that includes soft-serve ice cream.

Yume Japanese Restaurant
Dining at Vancouver’s new Yume Japanese Restaurant will be an experience, from the restaurant atmosphere to the rich flavours and dishes on the menu. The beautiful restaurant has an oasis-type of vibe with tables next to a small bamboo garden and more greenery. Many of their menu items are perfect for sharing among family or friends, too, like futomaki or crispy fried chicken.

Barra Gitano
This new addition to Davie Street in Vancouver brings diners fresh and authentic Mexican cuisine, as well as summer-ready margaritas or cocktails. They only opened quite recently this July and are easily your next spot for Taco Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or any day. Barra Gitano also serves up a great variety of appetizers, including seafood, meat, and vegetarian snacks. Their taco fillings include your choice between pork belly, beef tongue barbacoa, vegan broccolini, or battered ling cod.

Tito’s Kitchen
Tito’s Kitchen is just that: a kitchen which creates delicious take-home foods. They are a take-out-only restaurant with options for pickup or delivery. The Tito’s specialty is the authentic Italian lasagnas they offer packed full of meats, cheeses, vegetables, and sauces. Enjoy these plates and more straight from Nonna’s recipe book.

Cowdog Coffee
As an already-popular café pop-up shop in Vancouver, Cowdog Coffee have their loyal customer base. But as of mid-July, they’ve grown much larger to include more happy coffee drinkers from their permanent shop. Cowdog Coffee now operate from the Granville neighbourhood with their beloved latte and coffee drinks.

Alice in Wonderland Afternoon Tea
This whimsical experience features a menu with both sweet and savory items. Indulge in sweet treats such as the “Eat Me” Cake with cherry jam and milk chocolate ganache, the “Flamingo” with pate a choux and raspberry-rose coulis, and the “Spade” with dark chocolate mousse and blackberry compote. Enjoy the “Mushroom” Tart with matcha ganache and yuzu curd, as well as freshly baked scones with candied lemon and honey Chantilly.
For savoury bites, savour truffle brioche, a crispy “Treasure Map” ham and cheese pastry, truffle quiche with caramelized leek, crab arancini with lemon aioli, smoked salmon sandwiches with dill crème fraîche, cucumber sandwiches with kewpie mayo, and “Curious Oysters” with lemon and olive oil.

BC Dumpling Festival
The 3rd annual BC Dumpling Festival is brought to us by The Asian Arts and Culture Society. This massive food festival in Coquitlam incudes two long rows of dumpling food vendors, another row of food trucks, and a section for retail vendors. Plus, at the heart of the dumpling dining area is a stage to host live performances throughout the day.

Dished Food Truck Fest
Taste your way through 18 different local food vendors this August with the help of the Dished Food Truck Fest! The festival will be set up in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery with a huge variety of different types of cuisine and local drinks to try. The free admission will get you access to live music, too!

Ribfest Langley
Langley’s Ribfest continues to grow and grow each year, with the 2024 event taking place over two days. There will be great barbecue and ribs to try from a variety of vendors, additional types of food vendors, a kids’ zone, live music, and beer gardens.
