2024 Calgary Stampede Midway Food: 55+ Daring and Unique Dishes to Try This Year

Calgary Stampede has unveiled an array of bold and innovative dishes to tantalize taste buds from July 5-14.

This year’s lineup introduces a blend of savoury, sweet, and unusual culinary creations. Among the new offerings are Cheeseburger Ice Cream, Mexican Street Corn Ice Cream, and the distinctively sweet Dill Pickle Cotton Candy.

Adventurous eaters can look forward to the Flamin Cheesy Takis Dog and Oreo Cheesecake Mini Donuts.

Per the news release, Stampede Insiders contributed over 1,300 naming suggestions for a new takoyaki dish. The standout entry, “Cowboyaki,” cleverly combines traditional Japanese street food elements—meat floss, seaweed, pickled ginger, cabbage, and octopus—with the spirit of the Stampede.

For those less inclined towards octopus, the Midway boasts over 70 vendors and more than 50 new dishes. Noteworthy among them is the Gator Pepperoni Pizza, a fire-roasted flatbread topped with crushed tomatoes, mozzarella, caramelized onions, basil, and alligator pepperoni crafted locally.

Another highlight is the Cowboy Candy Colossal Onion, which mixes candied jalapeños with hot cheese, bacon bits, and chives for a spicy-sweet treat. To beat the heat, visitors can enjoy updated classics like Sour Candy Soft Serve, Whipped Lemonade, and Pina Colada Boba Lemonade.

“Each year the Stampede’s Midway is the ultimate destination for food enthusiasts seeking bold, daring and unique flavours that give our festival favourites unforgettable twists,” says Ashley Warner, Midway Manager at the Calgary Stampede in a news release.

  • Korean Waffle: A savory smash patty with kimchi, pickled radish, and Korean BBQ aioli, elegantly served on a crisp waffle.

  • Meatball Mac & Cheese: Classic Italian macaroni and cheese elevated with hearty meatballs, marinara, fresh parmesan, and green onions.

  • Giant Mozza Stick on-a-stick: An epic, hand-held mozzarella stick, freshly battered and fried, offered with Marinara or Ranch for dipping.
