The Calgary Stampede celebrates the people, the animals, the land, the traditions and the values that make up the unique spirit of the west. The Calgary Stampede contributes to the quality of life in Calgary and southern Alberta through the world-renowned 10-day Stampede, year-round facilities, western events and several youth and agriculture programs.

Highlights:

Parade:

Each year the Parade showcases more than 150 western-themed entries, including 30 marching bands, 40 floats, 750 horses and 4,000 people. It’s not just a Parade marching down an avenue; it’s a march through tradition, history and local Calgary culture.

 

Stampede Rodeo:

Barrel Racing, Novice Bareback, Tie-down Roping, Steer Wrestling, Junior Steer Riding, Novice Saddle Bronc, Saddle Bronc, Bull Riding, Bareback Riding

Evening Show:GMC Rangeland Derby & Bell Grandstand Show

GMC Rangeland Derby: Witness all the heart-stopping action over nine nightly heats as 36 drivers, supported by their outriders and 216 horses vie for over $1.15 million in total prize money. Races start nightly at 7:45 p.m.

Shopping & Maker Market:

Calgary Stampede souvenirs, unique local crafts, home decor and more! The Maker Market is the newest addition to BMO Centre, Hall A and is a place where Stampede guests can purchase unique, hand-made goods from approximately 60 Western Canadian small businesses, with the majority from Alberta-based companies. The vendors will be selling uniquely designed glass jewellery, hand-made ceramics, hand-knit items, children’s clothes and books, pet supplies, leather goods, art and more.

Stampede Breakfasts:

Free western pancake breakfast complete with entertainment.

Sneak-a-Peek – on Thursday, July 2, admission is $9 and free for kids six and under from 5 p.m.—midnight! Check out the park a day ahead before the parade officially kicks off The Calgary Stampede!

Parade Day – following the highly anticipated Stampede Parade on Friday, July 3, guests can head on down to Stampede Park for free admission between 11 a.m.—1:30 p.m.!

Cenovus Family Day – on Sunday, July 5, get free admission between 7:30 a.m.—11 a.m. and includes a free pancake breakfast for families coming to visit! Head over to the Grandstand Tarmac to get your freebreakfast, as well as catch the Agriculture Show on the Grandstand Stage.

McDonalds Community Day – on Tuesday, July 7, general admission is only $2 between 10 a.m.—2 p.m. and guests 65+ get in free all day! Don’t miss the Grey Cup rally to fuel your community spirit from noon—2 p.m. at the Grandstand Courtyard.

BMO Kid’s Day – on Wednesday, July 8, kids 12 and under are free between 7 a.m.—9 a.m. as well as accompanying adults. There will also be a free pancake breakfast in the Grandstand Courtyard from 8 a.m.—9:30 a.m. with a variety show on the Grandstand Stage at 8 a.m.—10 a.m.! After 9 a.m., general admission is only $2 for kids 12 and under.

The CTrain is free in the downtown core and operates 24 hours during the 10 days of Stampede. You can get to Stampede Park from two CTrain stations – Erlton and Victoria Park Station.
