There’s something for everyone at Toronto International Busker Fest, taking place this Labour Day long weekend.
BuskerFest Toronto
Celebrating its reputation as Ontario’s grandest convergence of global buskers, this four-day extravaganza teems with non-stop entertainment for everyone, from adrenaline junkies to comedy connoisseurs, acrobatic aficionados to music mavens.
What to See & Do This Weekend:
Toronto BuskerFest is filling Woodbine Park with a mix of circus, comedy, magic and roaming characters over Labour Day weekend.
The atmosphere is a celebration of both skill and spontaneity, all in support of Epilepsy Toronto.
Performances:
Among the circle acts, Anna Ki combines dance, acrobatics and extreme contortion, while Kai Cao turns juggling into a rhythm act by pairing bouncing balls with rapid tap dancing.
Quinn Beasley, who has performed in more than 40 countries and appeared with Cirque du Soleil and Just for Laughs, mixes acrobatics, stunts and comedy. Cate Great, a 20-year circus veteran, brings high-level circus skills with original comedy.
If fire is more your thing, Pyromeo combines fire eating, flame manipulation and comedy, while The Fire Ninja adds fireballs, fire eating and a finale featuring a mushroom-cloud-style explosion.
Bark in the Park:
Dogs get their own share of the spotlight as Bark in the Park TO runs concurrently with Buskerfest.
Canine Circus, a Canada’s Got Talent semi-finalist act, features rescue dogs performing tricks, stunts and comedy routines. Dogs Do Magic performs Saturday and Sunday, while Pyromeo brings fire stunts through Sunday evening. The Puppy Cuddle Zone runs September 5 and 6 from noon to 2 p.m., supporting Epilepsy Toronto.
Buskerfest After Dark and Special Events:
Night programming runs from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 4 includes Flamenco Night with Flamencolía Dance Company and a Bad Bunny Foam Party at 9 p.m.
Saturday brings Drag & Draw, hosted by Sucka with violin-driven live music from Dr. Draw. On Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m., Busker Laughs features Hector Rivas, Cliff Knight and Karine Kazan.
Pancakes and Music with Ned runs Saturday, Sept. 5 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for $12.19. On Sunday, join a Dolly Parton sing-along at 1 p.m.
Food & Market:
Food vendors include Brickyard BBQ, Coal Pot Jerk, Mr. & Mrs. Bao, The Poutine Supreme, Super Churros and Tyger Tyger Baked Bao.
You can also browse the Artisan Market, featuring local makers selling jewelry, books, sweets, pet treats, handmade goods and more.
Bark in the Park adds its own lineup of pet-focused vendors for four-legged visitors.
