$300 One-Time Payment: New Brunswick Workers Benefit Applications Open Feb. 27

Starting February 27, New Brunswick workers will have the opportunity to apply for a one-time $300 benefit, as part of the province’s efforts to alleviate financial stress among its residents.

This initiative, named the N.B. Workers Benefit, is designed to assist an estimated 250,000 eligible individuals or families, with a budget allocation of $75 million dedicated to the program.

To be eligible for the benefit, residents must fulfill several criteria, including a family net income of $70,000 or less and a minimum working income of $3,000 for the tax years 2022 or 2023. Additionally, applicants must be 19 years of age or older as of December 31, 2023, and must submit their application by June 30.

The benefit is restricted to one per family unit, with individuals without dependents considered as separate family units.

“We want to get the funds into the pockets of working New Brunswickers as soon as possible, so it is important to apply early, so we can process your application swiftly,” said Steeves in a news release.

“In order to expedite this process and be able to issue payments beginning in the current fiscal year, the application process is necessary.”

Applications are open until June 30, with the process streamlined to ensure rapid distribution of funds.

The benefit is designed to be accessible through an online application form, with alternative options for those preferring to submit their applications by mail or in person at Service New Brunswick service centers. Required documentation includes a proof of income statement from the Canada Revenue Agency for the applicant and, if applicable, their spouse or common-law partner.
