A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck off the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia on Friday afternoon.

According to Earthquakes Canada, the seismic event occurred at 1:26 p.m. PST, with its epicentre located approximately 22 km northwest of the Sunshine Coast.
The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a magnitude of 4.8 and placed the epicentre about 27 km north of Sechelt, 32 km west of Squamish, and 57 km northwest of downtown Vancouver.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km according to f 1 km according to USGS.
Residents in parts of the Lower Mainland reported light shaking, but there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
An automatic Earthquake Early Warning was issued.

Earthquake Canada is asking residents who felt the quake to report their experiences through an online questionnaire.
