Parlee Beach Provincial Park is a gem nestled on the shores of New Brunswick, the warm summer waters of the Northumberland Strait lapping at the shoreline.
Whether you’re from New Brunswick, or live far away and are finally planning to visit this summer, you should know about Parlee Beach Provincial Park.
Here are five of the best reasons to visit Parlee Beach Provincial Park this summer.
The Beach
Obviously, when you’re visiting a beachy area, you want to go to the beach… That’s kind of the whole point. Well, Parlee Beach will not disappoint at all! The waters are among the warmest on the Northumberland shoreline. If you’re of the sporty sort, there are usually plenty of summer sport activities held on the beach – sometimes informally and sometimes not. There’s a volleyball net and the opportunity to play ultimate frisbee, as well as football. There is also a sand sculpture competition held annually. AND Parlee Beach is blue flag certified meaning it is one of the cleanest beaches in the world. (current status)
The Food
There are a couple of food options available to you at Parlee Beach, but by far the most acclaimed is the gorgeous Euston Park Social patio. Euston Park Social specializes in a New Brunswick summertime delicacy – lobster rolls. Grab a lobster roll and fries combo before you hit the beach, or when you come in from a swim!
A Great Place to Camp!
Located not far from Shediac and not too far from Moncton – a major maritime hub – Parlee Beach Provincial Park has over 200 campsites. Some are larger than others, there are also larger accommodations made for RV/motorhome camping, not far from the beach. Camping on the beach itself is not recommended due to the tides. But if you’re looking to camp near a beach, then Parlee Beach Provincial Park has you covered.
Fantastic Walking Trails
A relatively new addition to Parlee Beach has been the walking trails. Parlee is surrounded on both sides by salt marshes – the Town of Cap Pele, which administers Parlee Beach Provincial Park, alongside the Province of New Brunswick, installed a boardwalk trail that meanders through the salt marsh, all the way to the sea. The 2.5 kilometre walking trail is a real hit among hikers, and if you’re a photographer, bring your camera! You might catch some shorebirds along the way.
It’s Accessible!
Parlee Beach has done something that not many New Brunswick beaches have – it’s made itself accessible to those with mobility issues, whether they use a wheelchair or not. The rubber mat rolled all the way out from where the boardwalk meets the sand allows for wheelchair access to the water. Individuals with mobility issues have struggled for a long time without the ability to enjoy the water or the beach, Parlee’s simple addition makes that possible.
