Sunshine Village

It is summer in Alberta, and there are many cool ideas for a weekend getaway. Here are a few ideas to get you started on a getaway for June 24-26, 2022.

Sunshine Meadows

 

Sunshine Ski Resort transforms into a hiking wonderland from this week onwards. Ride the Standish quad chairlift (Sunshine Village Ski Lift) to over 2,400 m (7,875 ft) – the highest Gondola / Chairlift access sightseeing elevation in the Banff and Lake Louise area – and experience 360-degree views of the Rocky Mountains that surround you. From there, catch even more breathtaking scenery from the Standish viewpoint platform and take in the view of the three high-alpine lakes; Larynx, Grizzly and Rock Isle. It is also the perfect place for a wildflower walk in July.

Y-Knott Ranch near Drayton Valley

“Kacikewin” (KA-T-SEEK-A-WIN) is Cree for “hideaway,” so there is no doubt you will find a tranquil escape in their RV campground or cabins. This quaint and beautifully landscaped park on Lac Ste. Anne offers a variety of fishing opportunities: here you can catch walleye, Perch, Northern Pike, White Fish, and Burbott. Alberta Beach is also a 5-minute drive away.

You can rent larger cottages, tiny houses, or rustic cabins at Evergreen on Cold Lake. The area is only a 3-minute drive from the beach and the lodges are situated in a secluded and forested area.
