Banff 
You can get to know Alberta’s winter scenery a few ways: atop ski hills, on the cross-country ski trails, or from the back of a snowmobile. But around a few parts of the province, you can also tour the prairies, mountains, or foothills, with the help of a few pups.

Dogsledding tours are available in all these areas, (with many of them in the Rocky Mountain or Foothill areas) and make for a unique way to spend an afternoon, see the province in a new way, and learn about this old winter custom.
Many tours include warm drinks, lunches, campfires, or all of the above. You’re also guaranteed to learn a few things about the land, the sled dogs, and the practice itself (like how to mush!).

SunDog Tours
SunDog offers Jasper’s only sled dog experience with tours through Jasper’s more remote areas and offer either a 1-hour or 3-hour outing on the sleds. The 60 Minute Musher is better for large families with smaller kids, while the Moonshiners is more suited to older children and adults.

Kingmik Dog Sled Tours
Kingmik provides you with the chance to see Banff, Lake Louise, and the Rockies like never before via two dog sled tours. For 2025 winter season, they are only offering tours in in Yoho National Park with pickup from Lake Louise.
Travel alongside glaciers and mountains, guided by experts sharing sled-dog history and stories. Interact with huskies, enjoy scenic views, and even drive the sled. End with snacks, photos, and a warm beverage before returning to Lake Louise, capturing memories of this authentic adventure.

Mad Dogs & Englishmen Expeditions
Canmore’s Mad Dogs & Englishmen Expeditions include three different dog sled adventures from which you can select: a 2-hour tour of Spray Lakes, a 2.5-hour Fortress Mountain tour, or a half-day tour to gorgeous Mt. Nestor viewpoint. The longer Mad Dog tour includes a campfire lunch along with your epic ride through the Rockies. Other offerings include skijoring clinics, private skijoring lessons, and winter kennel tours (meet the puppies and walk the interpretive trails!).

You get the option of four different winter sled dog tours from Snowy Owl Tours in Canmore, which range in time spent out on the sleds. Howling Dog Tours
Howling Dog’s two sled dog tours bring you through the beautiful Spray Lakes Provincial Park, but with the dogs, you’ll get access to views that few get to see in the park. Unleash the Musher is suited to most ages at two hours in length; the Dog Day Afternoon is for people 10 and older and offers a half-day excursion.

Boundary Ranch
Explore the Kananaskis Valley through the thrilling adventure of a dog sled tour. Boundary Ranch does have many summer adventures too, but their dog sled tours are a memorable way to spend your mountain vacation. Your excursion lasts for about an hour and a half.
