Alberta Health has released guidelines on how to celebrate Halloween during COVID-19. Recently, the department also released guidelines on how to celebrate Thanksgiving safely during the pandemic.
Guidelines include:
- Sanitize your hands often.
- Wear a costume that allows non-medical masks.
- Don’t go trick-or-treating or handout candies even if you have only mild COVID-19 symptoms.
- Trick or Treat only with your cohort.
- Stay 2 meters away and call out “Trick or Treat” or knock instead of ringing doorbells.
- Use tongs to hand out pre-packaged candy to avoid handling treats or space out treat bags outside or use creative ways to handout candy bags like a “candy catapult”.
- Have only small parties with people you know where there is enough space for social distancing and don’t share food.
- Choose games and activities that don’t use shared items and allows people to stay 2 metres apart.
- Host your party outdoors, if weather permits.
Alberta Health has also released on its website two new flyers that you can post on your door or window to let trick-or-treaters know if you’re planning to hand out Halloween candy.
