Mediacorp Canada Inc. has announced the winners of Alberta’s Top Employers for 2025, recognizing organizations setting new standards for attracting and retaining talent in a competitive market.
Kristina Leung, Mediacorp’s managing editor, says over 25% of this year’s winners reported double-digit growth in their full-time workforce.
Per the news release, with Alberta’s economy expanding, employers are not only hiring locally but also drawing talent from across Canada. Employers are addressing this demand by offering flexible benefits and fostering supportive workplace cultures.
A notable 90% of this year’s winners provide customizable health plans or wellness spending accounts, giving employees options like purchasing time off or contributing to pensions. Half of the employers offer parental leave top-ups, while almost 50% support upskilling through tuition assistance for courses unrelated to employees’ current roles.
The competition, now in its 20th year, evaluates participants on eight consistent criteria, including workplace environment, benefits, community involvement, and skills development. Winners are chosen for their ability to lead their industries with forward-thinking practices, with detailed selections published to promote transparency.
Alberta’s economic diversity is also highlighted in the top employers list. While oil and gas remain central, new industries are emerging, drawn by the province’s affordable living costs and skilled workforce.
The annual list is part of the broader Canada’s Top 100 Employers project, managed by Mediacorp since 1999.
