The Vancouver-based company announced plans to open its first Toronto store at 90 Bathurst Street in the King West neighbourhood, with a late 2026 opening targeted.

At 9,600 square feet, it’ll be the biggest physical space Article has operated. Once open, it will operate Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Article, a modern furniture brand that built its reputation online, says the Toronto store is part of a broader shift toward physical retail.

“For more than a decade, Article succeeded through a digital-first model,” said Aamir Baig, the company’s co-founder and CEO. Over the past 18 months, he added, the company has seen how in-person stores can help strengthen connections with customers in key markets.

Per the news release, the Toronto store will follow the model tested at Article’s first retail location in Vancouver, which opened in August 2024. According to the company, that store has performed strongly, with average in-store orders more than 20 per cent higher than online purchases.

Inside, customers will be able to browse room displays, flip through a swatch library and place orders on the spot. Some smaller décor pieces will be available to take home immediately. The store will also offer free interior design consultations and a kids’ area.

Article says Toronto is one of the company’s strongest e-commerce markets in North America. The company says the new location is part of a wider expansion plan, with U.S. stores expected to follow and up to five locations planned by early 2027.
