Best of Tim Hortons: What Canadians Ordered Most in 2023

While in previous years, the Boston Cream donut reigned supreme, 2023 marked a change in the rankings of the most beloved donuts in the restaurant chain, says Tim Hortons, releasing their list of the top items Canadians bought last year. The Apple Fritter dethroned Boston Cream, although it still maintained its popularity in Atlantic Canada.

Tim Hortons attributes the Apple Fritter’s rise to the top spot to a recipe enhancement, featuring 40% more apples, as stated by Tim Hortons President Axel Schwan.

The Double Double Coffee continued its legacy as the most preferred coffee order.

In terms of breakfast choices, the Sausage Farmer’s Wrap, combining a sausage patty, a Canadian egg, hash brown, and chipotle sauce in a wrap, emerged as the top selection. For bagel enthusiasts, the Everything bagel was the go-to choice.

Other customer favourites in 2023 included the Chocolate Glazed Timbit, leading the pack in the Timbits category. In the newly introduced Dream Cookie range, the cookie adorned with M&M’S® Minis chocolate candies® was the most popular among the four flavours launched. The classic Tims Iced Capp® dominated the cold beverage segment, while the Tims Latte was the favorite among espresso-based drinks.

For lunch and dinner, the Turkey Bacon Club sandwich saw the highest demand. The Loaded Bowls and Loaded Wraps found their favourite flavour in Cilantro Lime. A notable trend observed was the peak in delivery orders through the Tims app, which was most common on Fridays at 9 a.m., with hash browns being the most ordered item at this time.

In retail, Chicken Noodle emerged as the best-selling Tim Hortons soup flavour in grocery stores. On their online merchandise store, the Vintage Logo Unisex Hoodie was the most purchased item.

Tim Hortons says the restaurant patrons at both Canadian and U.S. stores helped raise over $44 million between Camp Day, Smile Cookie, Holiday Smile Cookie, Special Olympics Donut and the Orange Sprinkle Donut campaign.
