If you want to ease into fall with lights, pumpkins and a little fire in the sky, Calgary FarmYard is trying something new this September.
The first Harvest Lights / Balloon Glow Evening runs September 18 and 19, 2026, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. You can explore the farm after dark, see hot air balloons illuminated on site and keep enjoying more than 40 attractions, all while the grounds glow with thousands of lights and seasonal displays throughout the evening.
What to Expect at Hot Air Balloon Glow
Harvest Lights has been a staple of Calgary Farmyard fall-season activities, with the farm illuminated by thousands of vibrant lights. This year, they have added Balloon Glow as an added attraction.
The evening centers on a mix of familiar farm fun and the balloon demonstration. Admission covers giant slides, the petting farm, mini golf, jumping pillows, farm games and the corn maze. The balloon crews will meet visitors, fire the burners and explain ballooning, while food, drinks and pumpkins will be available for purchase throughout the night on site both evenings.
Hot air balloons take the spotlight:
The Calgary Balloon Club is presenting the Balloon Glow as it marks its 50th anniversary in 2026. You can meet pilots and crews, hear the burners fire and learn about the sport. One thing to know: this is a demonstration only, so balloon rides are not offered.
Weather gets the final say:
Balloon inflations depend entirely on wind and weather, with the CBC Weather Safety Officer making the call on site. If conditions prevent inflation, the evening shifts to a “Candlestick Glow,” using a balloon basket and burner demonstration instead.
Bring a flashlight for the corn maze:
The corn maze stays dark, turning the usual farm attraction into a flashlight challenge. You can bring your own flashlight or simply use the light on your cellphone. The admission price also covers more than 40 other attractions around the farm.
Pig races, music and fall food:
You can catch pig races and live music during the evening, then grab Country Fair and fall-themed food and beverages available for purchase. Pumpkins will also be sold, giving you the option of heading home with something seasonal after the lights go out.
Tickets:
Individual admission costs $36.95 plus GST, although prices are subject to increase closer to the event. Tickets are limited and must be purchased online beforehand, with no tickets sold at the gate.
The Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival’s night glow is on Friday, September 25, 2026.
