The city of Calgary is bringing back New Year’s Eve fireworks.

The city will launch fireworks from Calgary Tower and it will be synchronized to CJSW 90.9 FM music soundtrack.
“After last year’s fireworks cancellation, we’re thrilled to have the dazzling fireworks show return to ring in 2022,” said Mayor Jyoti Gondek announcing the celebrations. “Fireworks on New Year’s Eve lift our spirits and are also a symbolic reminder that brighter days are on the horizon. I invite you to join in the joy by tuning into CJSW 90.9 FM for their synchronized music soundtrack to the show.”
The city last held New Year’s Eve Fireworks in 2019.
Calgary will also live stream the event which will feature a blessing from a local Indigenous Elder as well as a countdown to midnight with Mayor Gondek.
The music soundtrack, curated by CJSW 90.9 FM will feature music from Lodgepole Kind, Thomas Thomas and Moonrunner83.
The New Year’s Eve event will begin at 11:55 p.m.

What:
This year, in cooperation with CJSW 90.9 FM, city of Calgary will live stream fireworks show along with a music soundtrack for everyone to watch and listen to at midnight. There will be a blessing by an Indigenous Elder and a countdown to midnight with Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek.
When: Friday, December 2021 | 11:55 p.m.
Where: The fireworks will take place at the top of the Calgary Tower, Calgary

As a result of the fireworks show, from 11:45 p.m. Dec. 31, 2021 to 12:15 a.m. Jan. 1, 2022:
Centre Street S.E., from 6 Avenue S.E. to 9 Avenue S.E., will be closed
9 Avenue S.W., from 1 Street S.W. to 1 Avenue S.E., will be closed
9 Avenue S.W. south sidewalk, in front of the Calgary Tower, will be closed
