Calgary 
Calgary’s Sled Island Music & Arts Festival has announced its lineup for the Bartees Strange-curated edition, featuring various artists from all over the world.
The 2023 edition runs from June 21 to 25.
Among the newly announced headliners are experimental metal duo The Body, indie pop musician and trans activist Vivek Shraya, Mexican grunge-meets-shoegaze outfit Margaritas Podridas, and acclaimed electro-pop star Cecile Believe.
Sled Island has also partnered with Iranian artist-run festival SET Experimental Art Events to bring experimental musicians from Iran and its diaspora to this year’s festival.
The festival also boasts over 200 artists selected through Sled Island’s submission process.
There’s also a selection of local talent, including neo soul duo Sargeant X Comrade and singer-songwriter Samantha Savage Smith.
In addition to the musical acts, Juno award-winning comedian and actor Dave Merheje will be this year’s comedy headliner.
Passes are on sale at SledIsland.com and Lukes Drug Mart. Single tickets for the newly announced shows will be available on Friday, May 5 at 12 pm MDT.
