Retail mogul Doug Putman is bringing new life to the Canadian retail scene with the launch of rooms + spaces, a Canadian home store brand set to open 21 locations across Canada this summer.

The stores will cater to modern shoppers looking to create spaces in their homes that reflect their unique personalities and styles.
The broad range of products on offer will include everything from kitchen gadgets and luxurious towels to bed wedges, cherry pitters, and charcuterie sets.
According to the news release, rooms + spaces will actively support Canadian businesses and suppliers and carry iconic brands such as oxo, Homedics, Cuisinart, and Martex.
The locations will be former storefronts of Bed Bath & Beyond and buybuy BABY. Putman, who is also the founder of Putman Investments, is acquiring over 800,000 square feet of real estate with this acquisition.
The move comes at a time when American retailers are increasingly closing their doors in Canada, leaving empty storefronts across the country.
The company is actively hiring 500 associates and will open more positions in the near future.

Per the news release, Doug Putman’s portfolio includes iconic brands like Toys”R”Us and Babies”R”Us Canada, Sunrise Records, hmv in the UK and FYE, the largest pop culture chain in the USA.
With the creation of rooms + spaces, he is once again transforming the retail landscape in Canada, providing shoppers with a unique and enjoyable in-store shopping experience.
