Starting July 25, 2025, Fort Henry in Kingston and Upper Canada Village in Morrisburg will participate in the Canada Strong Pass, a federal initiative aimed at increasing access to national attractions.

The program, funded by the Government of Canada, offers free admission to children and youth aged 17 and under, and a 50% discount for young adults aged 18 to 24. The offer runs until September 2, 2025. National Parks and National Historic Sites managed by Parks Canada are free for all ages.
Administered by the St. Lawrence Parks Commission, both historic sites are among Ontario’s most visited cultural landmarks. Fort Henry, originally constructed between 1832 and 1837, was used for military defense, internment, and later as a prisoner of war camp. It was restored in the 1930s and now operates as a museum featuring 19th-century military life and performances by the Fort Henry Guard.
Upper Canada Village, founded in 1961, features over 40 heritage buildings representing rural life in 1866. Many structures were relocated prior to the flooding of the “Lost Villages” during the St. Lawrence Seaway development.
According to Geoff Waycik, Director of Historic Sites at SLPC, the initiative is an opportunity to make both destinations more accessible. Ticket holders who purchased admission before the discount announcement can receive a refund on-site if eligible.
