Canada’s First Drive-In Music Festival Coming to Metro Vancouver

imageCOVID-19 may have caused the cancellation of 2019 Summer Music Festivals in British Columbia across Canada, but Summerset Music and Arts Festival has announced plans to change the format of the festival to a drive-in + physical distancing festival.

The inaugural Summerset Music & Arts Festival took place last year at the picturesque Fort Langley National Historic Site featuring world-renowned and locally lauded artists and showcased BC’s finest selection of craft beer, wines, and ciders – as well as a wide array of food truck and local vendor options, including an expertly curated choice of ethnic and vegan food options.

This year, the festival will feature a “drive-in”, with each vehicle having a designated spot that adheres to social distancing regulations.

In addition, there will be physically distant plots where you can put a chair, a blanket, or stand up and dance, given that this falls within government recommendations and regulations.

The festival can also be streamed online.

According to the website, “the benefit concert has been designed to adhere to the BC laws around Covid-19, as the BC government releases their phases approach we will make the final decision as to how attendees can view the concert. This event serves to benefit musicians suffering in British Columbia due to lost work, income and well being. We know there are ways we can support and serve our music community this summer, and we will be working in partnership with local government and health authorities to ensure our guests, artists, and public’s safety.”
