Cineplex is launching a new movie event aimed at offering audiences affordable entertainment and an element of surprise.
The company announced the debut of Monday Surprise Premieres, where moviegoers can watch an unreleased film for $8.99 in theatres, without knowing the title until the screening begins.
The first edition of the event will take place on Monday, November 10, 2025, in select Cineplex locations across Canada. The featured film will remain undisclosed until the lights dim and the opening scenes appear on screen. The only hint provided is that the title will be a brand-new release, not yet available to the public. The film’s rating will be published on its official website before the event.
Tickets are now available for purchase, with online bookings subject to an additional fee of up to $1.50. Members of Cineclub can attend the event using their complimentary monthly ticket. All prices listed exclude applicable taxes.
According to the company, the Monday Surprise Premieres are designed to give audiences an opportunity to experience new films before their official release while maintaining an element of suspense. The initiative also aims to encourage more in-person attendance at theatres, which continue to compete with streaming services for viewers’ attention.
