Events Description

On September 30th, Southcentre Mall and Colouring It Forward Reconciliation Society invite you to a special event that will pay tribute to Canada’s newest federal statutory holiday, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with family activities and crafts intended to promote understanding and awareness of Indigenous culture and experiences, while also educating the community about how they can play an active role in reconciliation.

A blessing ceremony and a traditional dance and musical performance at 1 p.m.

Guests will have access to a dedicated resource centre where they will be able to ask questions, discover more about Indigenous culture, learn about how they can be part of reconciliation and engage with members of Calgary’s Indigenous community. Attendees will also have the opportunity to receive an orange ribbon from the resource centre on a by-donation basis to honour and remember the experience of residential school children in Canada. Donations will be sent to the Colouring It Forward Reconciliation Society to support their mission of advancing education on indigenous issues, art, language and culture.
