In the cozy confines of a Tim Hortons, amid one of the harshest blizzards of the decade, a tapestry of Canadian lives converge, setting the stage for the new musical, The Last Timbit.
Set during a real-life 2010 blizzard in Sarnia, Ontario, this production captures the heartwarming essence of community and resilience. Strangers find themselves trapped together for nearly a full day, their stories and struggles weaving a narrative of family and perseverance.
Produced by Michael Rubinoff, the creative force behind the acclaimed “Come From Away,” the musical promises to be a poignant exploration of life’s unexpected encounters. Rubinoff, an Olivier Award winner and Tony Award nominee, describes the show as a celebration of the communal connections fostered daily at Tim Hortons locations across the nation.
The Last Timbit boasts a star-studded cast including Broadway veterans Chilina Kennedy and Jake Epstein, alongside notable performers from the Stratford and Shaw Festivals. The production, enriched with music and lyrics by the talented Johnson sisters, Anika and Britta, and directed by Brian Hill, will unfold at Toronto’s Elgin Theatre from June 26-30.
In collaboration with Roots Corporation, the musical will feature specially curated costumes that reflect the unique personalities of each character.
Tim Hortons is running a national contest inviting Canadians to share personal stories related to the brand. Winners will enjoy a trip to Toronto to experience the musical firsthand. Entries are accepted via Tim Hortons’ social media platforms.
Tickets for the show will be available starting this Friday at 8 a.m. ET on Ticketmaster.
