Events Description

Peotry for the people by the People.

A celebration of poetry and art, this DIY festival returns thanks to a partnership with Loft 112 and LimeLighter. Take in workshops, a poetry walk, and an evening filled with poetry, spoken word, live music, and film.

Opening night where poetry is interpreted through art. Meet the artists and the poets. Poems will be read aloud and the artists will share their inspiration and process. All art is for sale.

This year 8 talented poets and artists have come together to create beautiful work on display and for sale.
The People’s Poetry Festival started as a three-day event held in the Kensington area of Calgary. Founded in 2011 with support from fillingStation Magazine, Calgary Arts Development, the Calgary Foundation, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Canada Council for the Arts, A Place Called WordsWorth, the Mustard Seed and the Calgary Drop-in and Rehab Centre, the festival seeks to break down barriers to poetry as an art form and method of expression, making it accessible to all members of the public.
