Events Description
We invite the community to participate in the 17th annual Walk for Reconciliation this National Indigenous Peoples Day. This event honours residential school survivors, the children who didn’t return home from residential schools, and celebrating the vibrant and lively Indigenous communities and cultures that still exist today.
The walk begins at 9 am at the Harry Hays Building (220 4 Ave SE) and travel down the RiverWalk to end at The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland (750 9 Ave SE) for a community meal, an outdoor gathering with speeches and performances by drummers and dancers, and a variety of other free activities like fireside stories with a Treaty 7 Elder, traditional Indigenous hand games, and Métis cultural programming at Calgary’s oldest building.
