Events Description
This year’s Eekfest features a great variety of pop-culture and Halloween-themed attractions, amusements and fun-filled activities for fanboys and fangirls of all ages, including a haunted house escape room, video games zone, an interactive Lego display by the Northern Alberta Lego Users Group (NALUG), a display by the Hearse Club of Edmonton, and an appearance by Edmonton’s 501st Badlands (Storm Troopers and more!) – as well as artists, vendors, board games, food trucks and live entertainment.
Attendees will also be amazed and horrified by the “Incredible Headless Lady” exhibit, and there will also be a seminar by special guest writer Patrick Weekes from Bioware, who has written for two of the world’s biggest video game franchises – Mass Effect and the Dragon Age. The highlight of the festival will be in the Arden Theatre, where two performances of Frank’n’Wolf Follies – The Halloween Vaudeville Show will take place on-stage. Hosted by Edmonton comedy legends Tom Edwards (as Frankenstein’s monster) and Dana Andersen (as Wolfman) – this not-to-be-missed family-friendly 90-minute entertainment extravaganza features a zany and fun-filled lineup of music, comedy, dance, magic, a few scares, and – in an Eekfest exclusive – the Yednist Dance Company performing as Ukrainian zombie dancers, complete with flying body parts.
