Events Description
On February 2, Okanagan Okie will emerge to check for a shadow and give the long-awaited news of when we can expect to bring out the shorts and flip-flops.
Will Okie predict an early spring, or will we have six more weeks of winter?
The short but spirited event will be held in person at Allan Brooks Nature Centre and streamed live on ABNC’s YouTube channel, allowing everyone to take part no matter where they are. The event is free to attend, both online and in person.
Attendees visiting the Nature Centre can warm up with complimentary hot drinks and snacks, provided free of charge as part of the celebration.
The highlight of the morning will be the official Groundhog Day prognostication from Okie the Marmot, ABNC’s beloved mascot. Okie’s spring weather prediction will be read aloud, continuing a fun and family-friendly tradition that blends education, community, and a bit of seasonal suspense.
