Events Description

Carleton University’s Chemistry Department is back with its 13th annual Chemistry Magic Show on Sunday, January 19, 2020. Come see flames, explosions, amazing colour changes, things that glow in the dark, and so much more! This free event features fun targeted at the whole family with explosions, a look at the inner workings of fireworks, reactions that can tell time, and things that glow in the dark.

There will be hands-on activities before the show starting at 9:00 a.m.. You can make ice cream with liquid nitrogen (and yes, of course you can eat it!), encounter interesting smells (from the pleasant aromas of spices to the not so nice aromas of sweaty feet, and everything in between), learn about fluorescence and phosphorescence, discover the secret to making great bubbles, see some of the demonstrations up close, and much more.
