Traditionally held during the Labor Day weekend, the FMG – Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival, is the largest summer event in the Outaouais. Recognized for its diverse artistic programming and entertainment for the whole family, the FMG offers surprising activities in a magical atmosphere!
In addition to the two Hydro-Québec Musical Matinees, with an instrumental performance by Cœur de pirate (Sat., Sept. 4th) and a vocal performance by Fred Pellerin (Sun., Sept. 5th), two shows will be offered each evening on the Casino Lac-Leamy stage.
On Thursday, September 2, Kaïn (6:15 p.m.) and Bleu Jeans Bleu (9:30 p.m.) will take the stage at the FMG.
The following day, Friday, September 3, Matt Lang (6:15 p.m.) and Les Cowboys Fringants (9:30 p.m.) will perform at Parc de la Baie.
On Saturday, September 4, we will see several artists on stage. First, at 6:15 p.m., Martin Deschamps and his guests Ricky Paquette, Marco Calliari, Breen LeBoeuf, Daniel Boucher, Lou Granger Deschamps and Mélissa Ouimet will present the show Comme je suis. At the end of the evening, at 9:30 p.m., a signature concert Enfin de retour! will be presented, featuring Roxane Bruneau, Marc Dupré, Marjo and Ludovick Bourgeois, as well as several local artists. This show will also be broadcast live on 94.9 Rouge Gatineau-Ottawa!
Finally, the FMG’s unmissable comedy gala will be presented early in the evening, at 6:15 p.m., on Sunday, September 5. It will feature Rita Baga, Richardson Zéphir, Jean-Thomas Jobin and Korine Côté. To close the 34th edition with a bang, FouKi and his Zayvités have a whole show in store for FMG festival-goers. For the occasion, the Zay rap standard-bearer will surround himself with a multitude of friends for a big bash! Their identity will be revealed in the coming weeks.
The Casino Lac-Leamy Stage will be filled with local artists who will be opening for each of the early evening and late night shows. We’ll be joined by 6-time Trille Or award winner Mehdi Cayenne (Thursday, Sept. 2nd), A Leverage For Mountains (Friday, Sept. 3rd), Ricky Paquette and Mia Kelly (Saturday, Sept. 4th) and LeFLOFRANCO and D-Track (Sunday, Sept. 5th).
Monday, September 6th will be devoted to families! Little ones will be invited to enjoy one of the two free shows Ari Cui Cui garde le sourire (9:15 am and 11:30 am). Circus entertainment will also be provided by the trio Les Échappés! Families must reserve their seats to participate.
There is nothing more beautiful than the Lift-offs! This year once again, there will be dozens of hot air balloons. As always, the public will get to enjoy the ultimate experience:seeing the region from up high. And this year, there will be the low-cost tethered flights, more limited and less dizzying.
About fifteen hot air balloons, belonging to balloonists from Ontario and Quebec, will take part in the flights presented during the musical matinees, evening flights and nightly balloon illuminations. Among them, five special shapes will be part of the event:
She’s a hoot! (Owl)
Miss Birdy the elephant
Bunch of bees
The FMG is proud to partner with Beauce Carnaval to bring you a thrilling amusement park from September 2nd to 6th, on the outskirts of its show site in Parc de la Baie.
In total, 12 to 15 rides will be present, including the Zipper, Fire Ball, Himalaya, Caroussel, the Drop’n’twist and the Cascadeur for the thrill-seeking adventurers, young and old alike. The offer will also include games of skill and fairground food. Access to the rides will be via a separate entrance from the FMG show area; festival-goers will not be able to move freely between the two sites due to the ongoing health measures in effect.
